Heathman Hotel Portland

The HeathmanAfter literally years upon years of hearing about the Portland Heathman I finally stayed there in May when they invited the kids and I out for a stay.

They let me pick which date I wanted to come out and I strategically picked the night before Mother’s Day. Why you may wonder? Well, this year was my first year to be a single mom on Mother’s Day and I felt really weird about it. I wasn’t sure what the protocol was to be honest. Was I suppose to take my kids to the store? Should I give them money and tell them to shop for me? I could never decide so I didn’t have them do that. Therefore I knew when I woke up on Mother’s Day there would be no cards and no gifts. I don’t want to sound petty, but change is hard.

So, not knowing what to do, I decided we would go to the Heathman and wake up on Mother’s Day and have breakfast in bed.

And you know what? It was a great decision. Not only did I have room service for breakfast we had room service the night before too. I didn’t have to cook two meals in a row! Any single mom you’ll ever meet will tell you that whenever you do not have to cook and someone else does it for you, it’s a treat. Heathman King room

Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the famous doormen. They are famous for their outfits and commonly referred to as the Beefeaters. The valet whisk away our car and I was handed a glass of champagne to enjoy while we checked it. Not a bad way to start a stay!

When we got settled in our room we debated a great deal on whether or not to get room service for dinner. You see there are so many amazing restaurants in downtown Portland that it can be hard to decide where to eat. We eventually decided to order room service for dinner. I had a steak and the kid’s had burgers and a turkey sandwich. Everything we ordered was fantastic!Heathman hotel portland   Heathman french press coffee   Believe it or not but I had never used a French Press coffee maker and that is how you make your in room coffee here. Luckily they provide step by step instruction and I successfully made myself a cup of coffee! So, along with my Mother’s Day room service breakfast I had a lovely cup of coffee. We all ordered the same exact thing for breakfast: eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. Again the food was excellent. The breakfast portions are huge and two of my kids could have split one order. Heathman breakfast in bed

They also have a fully stocked minibar if you do not want room service, but want a little some thing. I forgot to take a picture of the stocked fridge, but here’s a photo of the goodie basket. Heathman mini bar

And of course Portland is all about being green and the Heathman went green. The Heathman completed a $4 million landfill-free “green” renovation, making it one of the most sustainable hotels in Portland. One notable example in the rooms was the refillable shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Heathman sustainability

Did you know that the Heathman has a secret bar just for guests? 1927 is a new Speakeasy establishment found at The Heathman Hotel!

  • Offering: Available for hotel guests as part of their stay at The Heathman Hotel for an additional $20 – guests should ask for the 1927 package.
  • When: 1927 will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. weeknights, and until 11 p.m. on weekends. The menu will be served from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

I’m a sucker for a good cheese plate- so I think I’d go with that. Although I never met a burger I didn’t like. It would be a hard call.

Oh, this hotel looks great! I’ll be in Portland in October, but haven’t finalized my hotel(s) just yet. This wasn’t on my radar, but it is now! If I don’t get to stay here this trip, then I’ll definitely plan to stay here the next one!
