Wine and Chocolate Party #aSweetPairing

This post is sponsored by Ghirardelli Valentine’s Day chocolates & Josh Cellars wines, both of which can be purchased at Walmart.

When I was asked to host a party for friends that included wine and chocolate I jumped at the chance, because who doesn’t like wine and chocolate. Chocolate, wine, and friends are three of my favorite things!

Josh Cellar Wine

We tried all the Josh Cellar wines I could find at my Walmart including:

  • Pinot Noir
  • Merlot
  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Sauvignon Blanc
  • Chardonnay
  • Legacy a red blend

Turns out this is all the wines they currently make. Everyone enjoyed them, the Legacy wine was a huge hit. All the wines averages right around $10 a bottle.

Ghirardelli chocolates

We also tried lots and lots of Ghirardelli chocolate including:

  • Double Chocolate brownie mix
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter cookie mix
  • Valentine’s Day Truffles
  • Squares: Raspberry, Strawberry, Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt, Caramel

I had everyone wear red and black for Valentine’s Day. (Well, that’s what I told them. Secretly, I was getting them to all wear red and black because that’s my college’s colors, Texas Tech!friendsfriends

Valentine's Day TreatsValentine’s Day Treats

Here are some of the fun Valentine’s Day treats we made with Ghirardelli melting chocolates, including chocolate dipped pretzels, chocolate covered strawberries, and cookies dipped in chocolate.

To melt a lot of chocolate I used a mirco-cooker and melt them in the microwave following the directions on the bag.

If I am just melting a little bit a chocolate I just pop a handful in a ziplock bag and heat them up in the microwave 15 seconds at a time until they are melted. I push all the melted chocolate to one corner of the bag and snip a tiny bit of the corner off. That’s how I drizzled the white chocolate over the pretzels and strawberries.

To make cake pops I use a cake pop maker. These things are super easy to use and don’t cost that much. I just use box cake mix with mine.
