With summer just around the corner, it’s time to start planning your family vacation. If you’re looking for a fun-filled adventure that the whole family can enjoy, look no further than Disney World’s Blizzard Beach. This water park is full of exciting rides and activities that will keep your kids entertained while you relax in the Florida sun. Here’s what you need to know about this amazing attraction.

Part of a complete Walt Disney World vacation is going to at least one of the water parks. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are two of the most creative and entertaining water parks you can visit anywhere.

A Day at Blizzard Beach

When you visit Blizzard Beach, you won’t be stuck in one spot all day long. Instead, with its winding rivers and lazy lagoons, there are plenty of opportunities to explore different parts of the park. For families with younger children, there are several “kiddie pools” designed just for them to splash and play in safely. The older kids will love the thrill rides like Summit Plummet—the tallest and fastest free-fall slide in all of Orlando—or Teamboat Springs—a 4500-foot-long racing slide!

For those looking for something a bit more low-key, there are plenty of other attractions to choose from as well. From beach chairs by Melt-Away Bay or a relaxing ride on Cross Country Creek to doing some shopping at Snowless Joe’s merchandise shop or simply lounging around in a float tube down Ski Patrol Training Camp, there’s something here for everyone.

They have a large kid area where they can climb in these floating alligators. The water is very shallow in this area. To each side of this area are slides and up above is a little area with a very small slide where little kids can climb and slide.

This is an area for bigger kids. They can challenge themselves to cross on these floating ice pads while hanging on to the rope above. Also in this area, were some body slides and a little zip line where they could zip out let go, and fall into the water.

This water park was a little too spread out for us. We did a lot of walking to get to the rides. Many of the rides are from the top of the “mountain” and they go straight down. They were too high for our kids to ride them, but they were fun. they also had a family ride that was fun.

Meet Characters

You can’t have a full Disney experience without meeting any Disney characters. At Blizzard Beach, you will definitely be able to see Goofy. You may also end up seeing Lilo and Stitch, Ice Gator, Chip and Dale, and supposedly you might even come across Olaf. These characters are a lot of fun to interact with. Goofy is fun to met in his swimwear and life vest. (We’ve never seen any characters here. Go figure.)

Food & Drinks at Blizzard Beach

No trip to Blizzard Beach would be complete without some delicious snacks and beverages! At Avalunch and Warming Hut restaurants, you can find tasty food items like burgers, sandwiches, salads, and more.

There is also a wide selection of alcoholic beverages available including beer, margaritas, sangria, and frozen cocktails! If you’re feeling extra hungry after all the fun water activities, plan ahead and make reservations at Lottawatta Lodge where they serve up an all-you-care-to-enjoy feast with BBQ ribs, chicken wings, and much more!
