DIY Face Moisturizer With Aloe Vera

The aloe vera plant has stiff, green leaves that hold a clear gel inside. Known as a potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic, the leaves and gel of an aloe vera plant have long been used to promote healing.

Aloe vera has been used medicinally since 2100 BC. Ancient civilizations in Egypt and Greece used aloe vera as a form of medicine. Aloe vera became widespread when Marco Polo and Christopher Columbus carried it during their travels, bringing it to other populations. During the 1930s, aloe vera was used to treat burns caused by radiation. It was even used on victims of the atomic bombs in Nagasaki and Hiroshima after World War II.

Aloe vera contains vitamins A, C, F, B and B-2, all of which function as powerful antioxidants. The plant also contains a carboxy-peptidase enzyme that reduces inflammation when the aloe vera is ingested orally. Aloe vera contains the minerals sodium, calcium, manganese, potassium, magnesium, copper, zinc, iron and chromium. These minerals suppress allergic reactions caused by histamines in the body.

Aloe vera encourages positive digestion, blood circulation, immune function, healthy skin and regularity when ingested. Aloe vera also benefits skin, acting as a moisturizer that heals irritations, including sunburn. Because aloe vera contains several minerals and amino acids, it can help heal conditions that cause damage to bones and joints. The amino acids also detoxify the liver and kidneys.

Fresh aloe vera, if rubbed in a small amount and left on the skin in a highly concentrated amount, moisturizes the skin. Mucopolysaccharides, found in aloe vera ooze, create a thin cover over a burn and shield exposed nerve endings. Another active chemical, choline salicylate, soothes inflamed skin. Put aloe vera on your face as a moisturizer and homemade cream before you put on makeup, which will help prevent your skin from drying. Men can also use it to treat small cuts after shaving.

Lubricating fats in oatmeal restore moisture to your skin, and natural cleansing agents remove dirt and oil from pores. Proteins in oatmeal strengthen the body’s natural defense against the outside world by covering skin with a protective layer.

Do It Yourself At Home – An Easy Recipe

If you have an aloe vera plant at home, cut open a leaf and spread the ooze directly over your face as a daily cleanser. Use oatmeal as a body scrub or face mask by grinding the kernels into a grainy consistency in a food processor. Add honey and hot water, then spread the oatmeal paste on your clean, dry face. Gently remove with cool water. Or, give yourself an oatmeal bath to exfoliate and detoxify your skin.

Diy Aloe Vera Moisturizer For Skin Conditions

Whether your skin is dry, oily, normal or some combination of the three, your own moisturizer is a good thing for the best results. A facial moisturizer hydrates the skin and, depending on what you put into it, will help heal, soften or increase elasticity. Just as there are multiple products in the same line at the store for different skin types, any homemade moisturizer should take these differences into account. For oily skin, the wrong moisturizer could cause pimples. For dry skin, the wrong moisturizer could do little good.

Check the ingredients list to make sure that it is the real thing and does not list artificial ingredients, such as preservatives. Glycerin is available at arts and crafts stores and some drugstores. It is a colorless liquid that comes in a bottle.

Aloe vera juice is available at health stores and natural food stores. To make the moisturizer, take 1/2 cup rose water, 1 cup glycerin and 1 tbsp aloe vera juice and pour them in a bottle. Shake it well to mix. Use it as you would use a store-bought moisturizer.

Several ingredients in this recipe for an aloe vera face moisturizer are hard to find at grocery stores. Find lanolin at some drugstores and health stores and at beauty supply stores. Almond oil is available some grocery stores and natural food stores. Find emulsifying wax at arts and crafts supply stores and hobby stores. The emulsifying wax is important because it keeps the liquids and oils together.

Melt 1 tsp lanolin and 1 1/2 tbsp emulsifying wax together over a double boiler. Add 1 1/2 tsp almond oil and 1/2 tbsp olive oil. Mix in the oils. Whiler stirring, slowly add 2 tsp glycerin and 6 tbsp rose water. Stir until thickened. Transfer to a container and allow the moisturizer to cool. Use it as you would a store-bought moisturizer.

A Diy Moisturizer For Dry Skin Is A Good Idea And With No Side Effects

For dry skin that needs a lot of moisture, use this recipe of a facial cream based on cocoa butter (or you can use shea butter), found in most grocery and drug stores. Beeswax, sesame oil and coconut oils are available at some grocery stores and most natural food stores.

Mix 2 tbsp grated beeswax and 2 tsp distilled water over low heat until the wax is fully melted. Stir in 1/2 cup cocoa butter. While still stirring, slowly add 3 tbsp sesame oil, 2 tbsp coconut oil and 1 tbsp olive oil. Coconut oil has a higher melting point than many other oils and is usually solid at room temperature. This is normal. Just add it with the other oils. Transfer the homemade aloe vera moisturiser into a glass container and allow it to thicken and cool in the container. Use it as you would a store-bought moisturizer in your skincare routine.
