Willamette Wine Tour
Along the way you will tour the hills of West Linn and Oregon City on a double-decker bus along countrysides with the most beautiful views. Sip luscious libations at award-winning wineries and speak to winemakers who pour their passion into every bottle.
At each stop enjoy flights of locally harvested and made wine at each of the three stops, behind the scenes tours and talks from winemakers, discounts on wine purchased that day at each winery, breathtaking views and experiences in our backyard. Stops include Campbell Lane Winery, Tumwater Vineyard, Villa Catalana Cellars.
Willamette Ale & Cider House
We started our excursion by checking in at the Willamette Ale and Cider House. Upon check in, we were handed our goody bag full of all the necessities needed for a successful wine tasting tour, ie: glass, cheese, chocolate and meats. I do suggest you get there early, as they leave promptly on time. With our spare time, we were able to take advantage of the promotion they had in place, 2 for 1 sliders (these were to die for) and $1 off drinks.
Located at 1720 Willamette Falls Dr, West Linn, OR 97068.
To our surprise, while getting ready to load up and leave, we were greeted by the most adorable double-decker bus! This was also a first for me!
Tumwater Vineyard
Our first stop, Tumwater Vineyard. As we strolled up to their breathtaking indoor/outdoor tasting room, we were greeted with our wine flights. Being that I am not the most educated about wine, I was so grateful for the mini demonstrations and educations on flavors, notes, and depths. Their tasting room over looked the Street Of Dream homes that were on display a few years back. We were excited to learn that during our tasting, we could take advantage of 20% off bottles purchased during our tasting.
Campbell Lane
Our next stop, Campbell Lane, my personal favorite stop. At Campbell lane, you felt like a friend, a personal guest at their home! They have set up the grounds to feel so warm and inviting with a comfy setting hidden in nooks and cranes to the yard games set up throughout the property. Here we were able to sample SEVERAL variety of wine, including some of their secret selection not even available for purchase. I’ll tell you, this was the most relaxing atmosphere, you really didn’t want to leave!
Campbell Lane has live music and food to go along with the wine every last Friday of the month.
But…..it was time to load up the bus and move on the next location. By this time, the wine had been flowing, everybody is friends (a few of us even exchanges numbers for a 4th of July party), we’re laughing and singing!!!! And yes, a good portion of this, is the fact that drinking WAS allowed on the bus. The leader of the group had the wine bottles flowing and it was amazing!
Villa Catalana
Next stop Villa Catalana, this had the most beautiful grounds… very Italian feeling, full of wispy greenery and hills of grapes. We were able to snag a bench that overlooked the lake, with a glass of wine in one hand and a slice of made to order pizza from an outdoor brick oven in the other… I can say that this was paradise. This was definitely the busiest location as they were open to the public during our tour but they did a great job offering many areas for you to explore and seek tranquility.
Throughout the year they host dinner parties, buffet lunches, live music, pizza nights, and more.
By the end of the day, my tummy was full and my head a bit tipsy, but I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a beautiful Spring day in Oregon. Double Decker PDX will be offering more tours soon, including a walking wine tour. Make sure you subscribe to their mailing list to stay the know, as spots fill up fast!
