When it comes to Disney resorts, the Grand Floridian is one of the most impressive. Located at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, this Victorian-style hotel is a little bit of luxury right in the middle of all the action. But is this resort really worth it? Let us break down what makes this iconic hotel so special for parents who are thinking about booking a stay.

For years I wanted to stay at the Grand Floridian. After going past it hundreds of times and hearing about it, I wanted to experience it for myself. We finally did and although it was great, it wasn’t as over the top as I had expected it to be.

What to Expect from the Grand Floridian Resort

Grand Floridian

The Grand Floridian Resort offers guests a luxurious and comfortable stay. From its grand lobby featuring marble floors and high ceilings to its sprawling grounds with lush gardens and white sand beaches, every detail has been carefully crafted with comfort in mind. The resort features several restaurants, two large swimming pools, a spa, and fitness center, as well as plenty of activities for kids.Grand Floridian

The rooms at the Grand Floridian are spacious and well-appointed. You can choose between standard or deluxe rooms or opt for a suite if you need more space. All rooms feature modern amenities like flat-screen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi access. The beds are incredibly comfortable and there is plenty of room to move around without feeling cramped. Plus, you can always ask for extra pillows or blankets if needed!

Room prices are typically well over $300 a night. The last time I looked them up they were running about $550 a night. Now for that kind of money, I was expecting a pretty spectacular room. So, you can imagine my surprise when it looked similar to the Boardwalk Resort rooms and the Yacht Club rooms. Our room had 2 Queen Beds and 1 Day Bed. The couch is a day bed, it easily folds down and makes into a bed. Here is a picture tour of our room. Like all Disney rooms, there is a fridge and microwave. This way you can bring snacks.

Get Travel Insurance

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can go wrong on any trip. Be prepared for the worst with travel insurance. We use Travelex or Safety Wing (often cheaper).

Book Flights

I use Skyscanner to find flights. I use it so much, I wrote an entire guide to finding cheap flights with Skyscanner!

Book a Place to Stay

I recommend using Expedia.com or Hotels.com for most hotel bookings. I prefer to book directly with Marriott when I stay there because of their excellent military discount.

If you prefer staying in a vacation rental instead, I recommend VRBO. If you are looking for a hostel, I use HostelWorld.

Rent Clothes

Rent clothes for your trip with Travel Style Expert for only $50 a month! The first 30 days are free!

Choose Activities and Tours

To find great activities in any area I use Viator. If we are visiting a city with lots of popular attractions I always check CityPass and GoCard to see if they have discount cards available. Groupon also tends to have a lot of local travel deals.

When I want to book a full-on multi-day tour I use TourRadar. They’ve got fantastic weekly deals. If I am going somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean I use Apple Vacations.

Rent a Car or Take a Lyft

More often than not Lyft is cheaper than Uber. Use my Lyft link for an $18 credit! For a car rental in any country, I recommend Hertz or Discover Cars.

Save Money on Gas

Upside a free app gets you cash back on gas! Use promo code RV2Q2 to get an extra 15¢/gal bonus on your first purchase.

Get a Visa

I use iVisa to get all of my Visas.
