hotel vintage lobbyAs soon as I walked into Hotel Vintage in downtown Portland, Oregon I was in love with this hotel. They’ve actually just remodeled and they have done a tremendous job. If I hadn’t known better I would have thought it was a brand new hotel. So, if you’ve stayed hear before and liked it you are in for a real treat when you return because they’ve made their hotel even better.

One of my favorite parts of Hotel Vintage is the new bar in the lobby. It’s a great looking bar and directly up the stairs from the bar is a game room. I felt like the game room was basically an extension of the bar. We visited the bar during happy hour. And, yes your kids are allowed to sit there with you! That’s right kid-friendly happy hour. While I was able to enjoy a glass of wine with some co-workers my kids ate off the extensive happy hour menu with choices like $4 fried clams and $9 cheese plates, and played pool and Wii upstairs in the game room. The website refers to the game room as an adult game room, but don’t worry kids are allowed in the area too. To play the XBOX or Wii you just have to give someone at the bar your id and they will give you controllers and games.

On the other side of the lobby you will find bicycles in front a wall that has been painted to depict a map of downtown Portland. The map is accurate and a great resource before you check out a bike and hit the town. Bicycles are complimentary. If you like you can make a donation which goes to Community Cycling Center a local organization that builds bikes for children.

Every evening here they hold a wine tasting hour from 5 – 6 PM. Hotel Vintage has partnered with 117 Willamette Valley Wineries, each of which host the wine hour once per quarter. You actually get to meet someone from the winery that you are sampling. Both nights I went to the wine hour they were sampling two wines.

I saw three different rooms while I stayed here and they were all completely different. I didn’t get to see the rooftop jacuzzi rooms, but I’ve heard they are amazing. They do have things in common through. Every bathroom has that artwork you see below with that creepy guy looking at you. If that’s not super weird like Portland I don’t know what is. All rooms have free wifi and two bottles of wine for purchase along with a minibar. All rooms have coffee makers with Starbucks coffee and a yoga mat in the closet along with hoodie robes.

This hotel has so many features I could keep going, like they have complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby each morning or that much of the art is graffiti like the extensive graffiti found in the stairwells. Also, there is an onsite restaurant Pazzo and the breakfast is excellent.
