Why You Have To Experience the L.A. Auto Show

Veterans – If you’ve ever attended an Auto Show, then you already know how fabulous it is to get your eyes and hands on the newest models of automobiles, and learn about them before they hit the car dealer lots.

Shoppers – If you’re in the market for a new car, it’s a great way to shop, look, feel, and learn without sales pressure.

Newbies – If you’ve never been to an Auto Show, and you are in Southern California, then you’ll want to check out one of the biggest and most popular, the Los Angeles Auto Show, which runs from December 1-10 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

What To Get Excited About This Year at the L.A. Auto Show 2018

This past week I spent a few days previewing the L.A. Auto Show, and these are a few things that were worth getting excited about!

Who is your most trusted resource when buying a new or used car?

If you respond “Kelley Blue Book”, then you are in good company with both savvy consumers and automotive industry professionals.

The experts at KBB have recently announced their Best Buy Awards after a year-long evaluation of over 300 new-car models available for 2018. The full list of category winners was narrowed down from about a dozen contenders in each category.

Fun fact: by the numbers, over 2,000 cups of coffee were consumed during the research!

Earlier this week I attended the Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards Ceremony, which honored celebrities of the automotive industry with a lavish red-carpet event.

Of the 12 vehicle categories, Honda drove away with a sweep! They had seven winners, including the overall winner – the 2018 Honda Accord.  At the L.A. Auto Show, you will be able to check out the new Honda Accord along with many of the other category winners.

Luxury Car: 2018 Audi A5 Sportback

Luxury SUV/Crossover: 2018 Audi Q5

Performance Car: 2018 Porsche 718 Boxter

Full-size SUV/Crossover: 2018 Ford Expedition

Truck: 2018 Ford F-150

Full-Size Car: 2018 Chevrolet Impala (oddly absent from the L.A. Auto Show floor)

As for HONDA, they were the big winners in each of these categories:

Small Car: 2018 Honda Civic

Mid-Size Car: 2018 Honda Accord

Electric/Hybrid Car: 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid

Small SUV/Crossover: 2018 Honda CR-V

Mid-Size SUV/Crossover: 2018 Honda Pilot

Overall Winner: 2018 Honda Accord

The 2018 Honda Accord won the award in the Best Mid-Size category. While style and roominess are important aspects, the new chassis makes it much more dynamic and sporty, along with a new turbo charge engine for added power.

Honda believes that safety technology should not be a “luxury” add-on for an additional cost, but rather, a standard for everyone. This is ultimately what sets Honda ahead of the competition in this class – their ability to incorporate efficient, high-tech features in the standard model while maintaining an affordable price to the consumer.  In fact, the 2018 Honda Accord was also the winner of the Kelley Blue Book Best Auto Tech Award.

While visiting Honda at the L.A. Auto Show, you can’t miss their winning contender in the Electric/Hybrid Car category, the 2018 Honda Clarity Plug In Hybrid. This is definitely worth your time to learn more about.  Once you get behind the wheel, you’ll discover a drive so normal that it’s easy to forget you’re driving an ultra-efficient vehicle. It has an all-electric range of 47 miles, making it a winner for day to day driving.  Then when you kick in the gasoline, it averages a total range of 330.

The 2018 Honda Clarity Plug In Hybrid has a starting price of $33,400, and that’s before the federal tax incentive of $7,500 and state rebates of up to $1,500.

At the L.A. Auto Show, you will find over a thousand new model vehicles for 2018, plus over 50 models making their debut, including new releases from Porsche, Mazda, Mercedes, Subaru and others. Hyundai debuted the new Kona in some refreshing colors, exemplifying the “Let’s Have Fun!” spirit of the new design.

There’s more to the Auto Show than cars, and there’s plenty to keep everyone in the family engaged. You’ll find virtual reality racing simulators, holographic tour of car features, and always a crowd-pleasing favorite, Nissan displays their Star Wars themed vehicles, complete with sound effects and moving parts!

Finally, keep your eyes peeled for celebrity sightings…Cookie Monster, the California Bear, and real-life stars love to mingle around! There’s always a surprise element, and something fun for everyone in the family. Enjoy!
