My most recent trip to Vegas has me staying at the Luxor Hotel and Casino. This was my first time to stay at the Luxor Hotel and to be honest I was not thrilled about having to stay there. I assumed it was too old and worried that it would smell like smoke. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. It’s old, but they’ve obviously updated it and my room did not smell like smoke.
I stayed in one of the towers in a room with two beds. The bathroom has a shower and a large bathtub. It was not a jacuzzi tub. My room was quiet and the mattress was awesome. I didn’t have a view and my cell service was not great. Also, they do not offer in room wifi. It also appeared to me that they’ve changed around the inside of the pyramid portion. It’s been over 4 years since I was inside the pyramid, but I am pretty sure it was different. There were two bars and a couple of places to eat, plus there theater where Carrot Top performs. I manage to eat at one of the restaurants and hang out on one of the bars. When I finally made it to the Luxor I was starving. I figured I would just grab something because I had somewhere else I needed to be, but they didn’t have a food court. So, I went to T&T (Tacos & Tequila). Lucky for me it was happy hour and they have a really good happy hour!
I had the $5 fiesta nachos and a $5 Sangria. The chips and salsa was complimentary. The sangria was excellent, but almost too strong which in Vegas is actually surprising. The nachos were ok as was the chips and salsa. The best party was definitely the killer prices and the sangria. Late one night when we got done working my friend Mary and I visited the lobby bar, Aurora. We split a bottle of champagne. The atmosphere is casual and it was a great place to just chill out and chat. There was no way we were going to one of the bars you have to stand up the entire time, because we had already been on our feet all day. So, this place was perfect.
