Mindfulness seems to be this trending word lately, one of the latest health kicks or passing spiritual fads. Actually, it’s the fastest growing health trend in America. Whether or not mindfulness’ popularity is here to stay, the fact of the matter is that mindfulness is a truly beneficial practice, one that is potentially life-changing.

People tend to spend about 50% of their daily lives on auto-pilot. This wouldn’t be such a big deal, I mean, we obviously all still get shit done, are productive, have social lives, etc. So what’s the problem? The problem is the amount of life that we’re missing out on when we let ourselves hang out in auto-pilot mode.
Mindfulness is a practice that teaches us to notice when we’re going on auto-pilot and correct it. Notice when we’re not practicing awareness and come back to it. Feeling skeptical? Harvard researchers show how mindfulness affects the brain.
