Bowling
Bowling here was so much fun. The bowling lanes are broken into different sections offering a much more private experience than what you would find at a regular bowling alley. When we went we had a whole little section to ourselves. The only issue any of us had with bowling here was that there were no bumpers on the lanes we were at. And with kids, you kind of need bumpers or they get all upset when they throw nothing but gutter balls. The good news is I know when booking for next time to stick to lanes the other 8 lanes, all of which have bumpers! Rookie mistake!

Karaoke
Punch Bowl Social has several private karaoke rooms with a couple of couches. My kids sang their hearts out. (Well, not Noah. He apparently hates karaoke.)
Punch Bowl Social Dining
There are tons of food options including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We stuck to happy hour appetizers when we went. Everything we ordered tasted great and I would recommend any of it. We ate in the area next to our bowling lanes.
They do have a large dining room for those that are looking just to eat here. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have tasty options like Chicken & Waffles, Adobo Marinated Mushroom Tacos and Seared Tuna & Soba Noodles.
Happy hour is from 3 – 6 PM everyday.
And, I should mention that they participate in Portland’s annual dining month during March each year.

Pimento Cheese at Punch Bowl Social photo by www.dendencyphoto.com
Their amazing chef Hugh Acheson shared one of his recipes with me. Here it is!
Hugh’s Pimento Cheese
Recipe by Chef Hugh Acheson, served at Punch Bowl Social
“Pimiento cheese was a hurdle I couldn’t get over until about ten years ago. I just didn’t like mayo and cheese together – they were too similar in texture. But after my wife Mary insisted on it, I started experimenting and came up with a winner. Now I can’t get through the week without at least one great sourdough and pimiento cheese sandwich with pickled okra on the side. It’s a versatile component, served on a sandwich, as spread for crisp toasted breads, a filling for celery, topping for burgers, or in finished grits. At Punch Bowl Social, we serve it straight up with bacon marmalade and pullman toast.”
Recipe makes 4 cups:
Ingredients:
1 pound sharp white cheddar
2 large, sweet red peppers, roasted, peeled, seeded, and diced
1/2 cup mayonnaise (recipe follows or you can use jarred in a pinch)
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 tablespoon smoked sweet Spanish paprika
Pinch of cayenne
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Grate the cheddar by hand to a medium shred and place in a large bowl. Add the peppers, mayonnaise, mustard, paprika, cayenne, and salt and mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon.
Mayonnaise
1 whole egg
2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup olive oil
In a stainless steel mixing bowl set over a bowl of salted ice, whisk together the egg, egg yolks, lemon juice, and Dijon. Slowly whisk in the vegetable oil and olive oil to emulsify. Immediately refrigerate and use within 2 days.
They’ve just opened up a brand new swanky patio set up on the two outdoor terraces which is a top spot to watch the upcoming popular Starlight Parade and Grand Floral Parade during the Rose Festival celebrations.

It was a very nice place. I could have used those bumpers myself. Fun time with the kids.
