Cannon Beach’s is the 4th most Instagrammed beach in the world. And of course, many of those photos feature the famous landmark, Haystack Rock. Visitors also come to the beach for whale watching which is sadly not as easy to photograph. For those of you craving an experience that will drop you into one of these photos there is no other place to stay than Surfsand Resort which over looks Haystack Rock! After countless visits to Cannon Beach I FINALLY have a hotel recommendation. Our stay here, from start to finish was wonderful.

The view of Haystack Rock from Surfsand Resort

We drove to the coast to celebrate Noah going a year without seizures. An achievement that the year before I had wondered if we would ever reach. Now, you might be thinking, Noah has epilepsy? Yes, it started 2.5 years ago and has permanently changed all of our lives. There were months I was praying he could just make it 30 days, then it was 3 months, then 6 months, so you can imagine how we felt when he hit a year. It felt like a miracle. I let him invite some friends and headed to the beach for some fun.

Surfsand Resort

During our visit to Cannon Beach we were hosted by Surfsand Resort. They put us up in a two bedroom suite. Which is the perfect size for a group of 5 or 6.

Our two-bedroom suite had two bedrooms, one with a king bed, the other with a queen bed, each accessible through their own entrance and with a flat screen TV.

The living room had a queen size sofa/sleeper, gas fireplace, flat screen TV with a DVD player, and a little spot with a microwave, snack size fridge, and coffee maker.

There was only one bathroom, but it was super spacious. It had a large soaking tub, step in shower and TV! From our suite  we had a partial ocean view, with a view of Haystack Rock from our large private balcony.

Surfsand Resort Amenities

This resort was packed with amenities, some of which I found to be incredibly unique. Except for the spa and snack shack, all of the amenities are included for no additional cost. The only thing they are missing that I prefer to have is breakfast included, but they do not have any type of restaurant.Surfsand Resort beach amenities

Beach services: They have a beach attendant that will set up your beach area for you. The resort provides beach chairs, umbrellas, and tables. When you head down to the beach you check in and let them know what you need. The attendant set up a wind breaker for us as well. As a single mom I could have cried, I was so happy about having someone do this for me. Not having to bring this equipment and not having to set it up was such a treat! (Tips are expected.)Best beach blanket

Beach Toys: They provide beach toys, so you do not have to bring your own.

Nightly Beach Bonfire: At night they have a bonfire on the beach with s’mores supplies. You can sit around enjoying the fire making s’mores. They bring out chairs and even blankets to protect you from the cold! There is no extra cost for this, it’s included. If you do not want to attend the hotel’s community bonfire, you can pay for them to set up a private bonfire for you. Nightly fire on the beach with s'mores at Surfsand Resort

Beach cruiser bikes and helmets: We never took advantage of this, but saw lots of families utilizing the service.

Saturday ice-cream social: They have a little cart with Ruby Jewel ice cream. You can pick out what kind of ice cream you want to enjoy. I believe there at least four choices.

Hands-on daily craft projects

Lanterns in every room for nighttime walks down the beach

Indoor year-round pool with toys: The pool is large and there is a nice size hot tub too!

Fitness Center – They have a small gym. It’s located right above the pool

Board games and DVDs available for checkout: We checked out Apples to Apples, Jenga, and a few DVDs. When you get a DVD they give you a bag of popcorn.

Kid Amenities: The website says they offer kid-sized plush robes, bath toys and turn-down service. For bedtime snuggling, coastal-themed story books selected for guests by the child’s age. Sadly, we didn’t experience any of these. When we went Jonah was 11, so maybe all of my kids were too old. It’s possible that I was supposed to request this and just didn’t

Spa – Apparently there is a spa. How could I have missed this? I also missed a beer tasting.

Weekly beach weenie roast – Seasonally on Sundays

Fresh-baked cookies and cold milk every afternoon in the lobby: The cookies were excellent!

Dogs Allowed – Dogs are allowed at this Cannon Beach hotel. Dogs receive a welcome package and they provide a dog bowl in the room.

Snack Shack – They have a snack shack down at the beach. I found this super convenient. They have wine. Need I say more?

We walked down to the beach for the sunset one night and it was wonderful. The weather had been all over the place and this was the result!

Ecola State Park – I cannot recommend stopping by this state park highly enough. The beach there is amazing. Kid’s can climb around and dig in the sand. Plus, there are interesting sea creatures to be discovered here.

Public Coast Brewing Company is a perfect family friendly place to eat.

Wayfarer restaurant is a good spot for breakfast, but was a bit spendy.
