The T-Rex has been around Disney Springs (formally known as Downtown Disney) for almost a decade and we used to eat there all the time. But over the years I kind of got sick of it. It had been so long since we ate here that my 9 year old son didn’t even remember the place. We went in just so I could show him the dinosaurs.
- Yes, you can go in and walk around and look at the dinosaurs and no one will stop you. You do not have to eat here.
- Also, they have a 10% military discount!
After walking around my kids really wanted to eat here so I caved in of course (big surprise) and we ate here. I must say I was pleasantly surprised to see a whole new much better menu. It was always a fun experience eating here since the dinosaurs come to life off and on during your meal, but the food was lacking so I had never recommend it before.
If you do not have a reservation you can still walk up and get a table, but you are going to be waiting a while. While you wait you can take your kids to the nearby Lego store or they can go into the digging area and play. The digging area is part of the T-Rex Cafe and it’s located just through the gift shop.
I have the Mastadon Stuffed Chicken with artichoke hearts, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, lemon butter, red skinned mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables for $19.99. It was excellent.
French Onion Soup with bubbling Swiss cheese was fantastic and just $6.99.
Unfortunately I cannot remember what this was. It was one of their steak options and my friend Lindsey said it was excellent. It was slightly over cooked, so maybe keep that in mind if you order a steak.
Noah had a burger, shocker right. I swear the kid is nothing if not consistent. He had the Guac-asaurus Burger with you guessed it guacamole! It also had fried onion rings, pepper jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles served with waffle fries for $16.99. Although horribly overpriced he liked it and would recommend it.
Cosmo’s Cheesy Macaroni – This pasta with cheese is a kid’s meal and served with choice of side and drink for $8.99. (Can I just say it kills me to pay $9 for mac and cheese. You know it cost like .50 cents to make it.)
Paleo Pizza – Also a kid’s meal. cheese or pepperoni served with choice of side and beverage for $8.99
