Did you know that 70% of Americans own some type of smart home technology? This includes audio, video, WiFi systems, and home security products. Here are some of the best smart home devices on the market for 2019.
I recently attended the Techlicious CTA Smart Home event in Atlanta, Georgia. During the luncheon, I had the opportunity to learn about some fantastic smart home products on the market right now!

The Best Smart Home Lighting Systems
There are a variety of smart home lighting systems on the market now and there’s an assortment of reasons to have smart lights. My favorite reason is that I love blue light. I had lasik five years ago and my right eye hurts a lot depending on the light around me. I’ve noticed that blue light is easier on that eye. Plus, blue light in the morning has been linked with higher levels of alertness.
C by GE Full Color Smart Bulbs
C by GE is GE Lighting’s premier smart lighting portfolio that is designed to make life smarter…and simpler.
C by GE Full Color Smart Bulbs offer millions of colors to choose from—plus tunable whites. We used two of these light bulbs to set up Noah’s dorm room last month. He went with the color blue, which goes great with his gaming set up.
C by GE products are compatible with both Google and Alexa.
Philips Hue
Philips Hue is a smart lighting system, meaning you use an app on your smartphone, tablet or wearable to wirelessly control your lighting and customize your ambiance for any moment at home. You can also control your Hue lights with your voice – you just have to ask Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri with Apple HomeKit.
You can turn on a geo-location feature in the Hue app. This means if you arrive home, our system will detect your phone/device and automatically turn the lights on for you, so you are never coming home to a dark house.
Hue also works seamlessly with Nest products like the Hello doorbell and IQ camera, to help you look out for your home.
Lutron Aurora Smart Bulb Dimmer
Smart bulb users lose control of their smart lighting when a light switch is accidentally turned off. To prevent this, the completely wire-free Lutron Aurora dimmer can be installed easily over toggle switches in just two minutes and works by “locking” your existing toggle switch in the on/up position so smart bulbs are always ready.
The intuitive, familiar style of the Lutron Aurora dimmer then allows any family member or guest in your home to control your Philips Hue lights easily without the use of Wi-Fi. Simply touch the Aurora dimmer to turn your Hue lights on or off and turn the knob to brighten or dim the lights.
Philips Soup Maker
As a single mom, I have some serious appreciation for the Philips Soup Maker!
Philips Soup Maker makes healthy homemade soups easy. You just add your ingredients and select one of six pre-set programs, and let the machine do the work for you. The six pre-set programs allow ultimate versatility including pureed soup, chunky soup, cold soup, compote, smoothies, and milk-based soup.
You can create your favorite soups in as little as 18 minutes with no stirring or monitoring. The 1.2-liter capacity makes a meal for two or appetizers for four. Philips Soup Maker even comes with a recipe book with 38 tasty recipes and expert tips.

RoomMe
I first saw RoomMe at CES, when I was searching for the best travel gadgets at CES 2019. I was impressed with RoomMe, but it wasn’t travel related so I haven’t written about it yet.
RoomMe by Intellithingsis the first smart home Personal Location Sensor (PLS) that leverages patented presence sensing technology (PST) to make room-to-room, person-specific smart home automations a reality.
RoomMe is not a replacement for your smart home system—instead, it exists as an additional layer over your installed smart home devices. By identifying the individual in the room using the unique Bluetooth signature of a matched smartphone, RoomMe adds a layer of intelligence that is lacking in smart home devices—the ability to sense who is and isn’t in each room to trigger personalized smart home scenes for lighting, music, comfort, and lifestyle simplicity
