zone perfectFor a long time my go to snack has been Zone Perfect nutrition bars. My kids and I eat them all the time.

Protein

I started becoming more aware of how much protein my kids and I needed when my daughter broke her hand in gymnastics. The break was so bad they sent her to see a specialist where we learned that she needed more protein to strengthen her bones. That day I began looking for snacks that were higher in protein and tasted great so my kids would eat them. That’s originally how I found Zone Perfect bars over in the pharmacy area at Walmart. They have 14 grams of protein, taste great, and now we all eat them. I keep the kids snack drawer stocked with them at all times! They can just grab and go.

Snack Drawer

Do you have a snack drawer? When we moved into our house I quickly realized we had no pantry, not cool. I ended up creating a “snack drawer” for the kids. I literally open packages of snack foods and dump them in. The kids can just get whatever they want out of there and I never have to hear “There’s nothing to eat.” complaint! Well, almost never.

Workout Snack

Eden wasn’t the only one that needed more protein. Noah’s a gymnast and he works out 16 hours a week 52 weeks a year and he is a teenager, so he is pretty much hungry all the time. In order to keep him from being constantly hangry (angry because he is hungry) he takes one of these bars with him to gymnastics every day. You can just imagine how hungry he gets with workouts like this:

Don’t have a Snacking Accident

I eat them to help myself stay fuller longer. Instead of snacking on crap I just grab one of these protein bars. I travel constantly and I’m at an age where I cannot just eat whatever I want. So, I use these bars to help me stay full while traveling and stay away from the airport junk food. I keep them in my purse and in my car. I’m proud to say I’ve lost 30 lbs in the last year and it is in large part to not making bad choices when grabbing a snack. Eating a better snack maybe a little win, but those little wins add up!
